Welcome to our website

The Maidstone Active Retirement Association (MaidARA) was formed 28 years ago for people over the age of 50 who are not in paid full-time employment and not a member of any other Active Retirement Association within KentARA. It is a very friendly club which welcomes new members.

We are affiliated to the Kent Active Retirement Association (KentARA).

The club is a non-profit making organisation whose aim is to foster friendship and good fellowship between its members, and to provide opportunities and facilities for social, cultural and leisure activities which will contribute to the mental and physical well being of the members, with the object to ensure a full and active retirement.

The full membership has been set at a maximum of 150 to ensure that we do not exceed the Health and Safety limits required at St Paul's Church Hall, Boxley Road, which is our regular monthly meeting point.

However, we have Associate Members who are welcome to take part in all our many activities, although due to the number restrictions in the Hall they cannot attend the monthly meetings until becoming full members.

There is a steady progression from Associate to Full Membership.

The regular monthly meetings, held on the 1st Wednesday, have a guest speaker or entertainer, and are a forum for information on future events and catching up with friends etc. (tea & biscuits inc!)

A Quarterly Newsletter is published to be given out at meetings and sent to Associates.

Our present annual full membership fee is 15 per person. The Associate Members annual membership fee is 7.50.
